Men’s golf atop MIAA standings
Men’s golf has finished in first place in the past three MIAA jamborees, securing their position at the top of MIAA standings. They began conference play on Sept. 19 in a jamboree hosted by Adrian College.
Calvin and Hope tied for first place in the first MIAA jamboree in Adrian, Michigan—hosted by on September 19 hosted by Adrian College.
With a team score of 287, Calvin won the second MIAA jamboree at Alma College on September 23.
The most recent jamboree happened in West Olive, Michigan on September 25 and wasa hosted by Hope College. Calvin finished with 285 strokes, standing at the top of the leaderboard. Hope College finished in second place with 289 strokes..
The MIAA Conference is currently led by Calvin, who has a total of 863 strokes, followed by Hope with 872 strokes, and then Kalamazoo College with 906 strokes.
The Knights’ performance in the fall season is on par with what they had expected from themselves. Head coach Brian Bolt explained the team’s goals in the following statement:
“On the course, we set out to shoot scores we are capable of at a particular course. During the season we focus on getting better with each practice and tournament. With our talent, we think we are capable of having the whole team shoot scores at or near par, and having a team score that reflects that.”
In addition, head coach Bolt noted his desire for the team to grow. “As a team, we also want to grow as citizens on and off the course. We want other teams to enjoy playing with us, and we work to grow together as a team in all aspects of life.”
The Knights will compete at Jamboree #4 at Kalamazoo, Michigan on October 2 at 1:00 p.m.
