Discover Grand Rapids through GoSite

Marking one year on April 4, GoSite, a welcome center and information hub, has been successful in providing recommendations about what West Michigan specifically Grand Rapidshas to offer.

“We’re here to welcome you and help you learn about and experience the great things GR has to offer,” states the GoSite website.

Located in the heart of downtown in the Grand Rapids Art Museum (GRAM), GoSite is a place for visitors, as well as locals, to discover Grand Rapids. Guests can browse online resources, map out their course or simply connect with other urban explorers. Sometimes there are even local musicians playing and coffee samples to try.

As soon as you walk through the doors, guides and volunteers are ready to help answer questions, create itineraries and share information about the community. Additionally, GoSite allows visitors to rest a moment and recharge their mobile devices before going off again to explore the city.

If you’re thinking about living or working in West Michigan, GoSite will help you get connected. While online information about what the city offers is helpful in making people more comfortable with the city, GoSite offers that same information while also allowing city-goers the opportunity to see and meet people, says Dana Fris-Hansen, director and CEO of the GRAM.

GoSite director Kerri VanderHoff says that GoSite will always remain a work in progress and will always be growing. This can be seen in recent adaptations in which GoSite became even more convenient with the addition of mobile carts that appear at various events throughout Grand Rapids. These carts will make GoSite representatives accessible at more locations.

“GoSite is a collaborative effort among public, private and non-profit organizations,” states the GoSite website. “It offers one central location that connects to the entire region, and brings the most up to date information to you.”

Additionally, if you want to check out Grand Rapids before your visit, their website at www.gositegr.org has information on events, attractions, entertainment and restaurants to help you map out your trip ahead of time.

Locals and friends also use GoSite to share tips about the place to be for that week. @GoSiteGr gives inside knowledge in Twitter about trending places to visit.

GoSite also connects students with information including student discounts on local events as well as resources on internships, education and other career opportunities.

Whether you’re wondering where the public museum is located, what’s the best place to get coffee or who to contact on a certain issue, GoSite is a good starting point.

Located at the northwest corner of the Grand Rapids Art Museum, GoSite is open Monday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
