The men’s golf team took first place in the third MIAA Jamboree of the season, recording a team score of 305 and pushing Calvin two strokes ahead of Trine in the overall MIAA standings.

The Knights traveled to Battle Creek and the Bedford Valley Country Club this past week for the competition.

Senior and reigning MIAA MVP Ben Kuiper earned first place medalist honors with a round of 71. With his round of 71, Kuiper continues to hold first place in the MIAA season individual standings at an average of 72.7 strokes-per round.

Coming in behind Kuiper for the Knights was fellow senior Dave Sarkipato who came in with a round of 77, good for a tie of eighth place individual.

Junior Mark Allen came into the clubhouse one stroke behind Sarkipato with a 78. Sophomores James VanNoord and Michael Wierenga rounded out the scoring for Calvin with rounds of 79 and 80, respectively.

Calvin was also scheduled to take part in the fourth MIAA Jamboree on Saturday at Trine’s home course the Zollner Golf Club. The event was rained out, however, and the make up day is Thursday.
