The dark horse in this year’s Chaos Day may be Bolt-Heyns-Timmer, according to Rachel Meima, the dorm’s publicity coordinator.

“We don’t have a lot of sophomores,” said Meima, “but moving the freshmen in, they seemed pretty competitive.”

After a disappointing finish in 2011, Resident Assistant Rose Nelessen is focusing on strategy. “There’s a place for everyone,” said Nelessen. “The key is helping everyone to find their place.”

The dorm, like its rivals, hopes to use its strong residents in the all-important tug-of-war, while using the best and brightest on the non-athletic game.

One of those rivals, Beets-Veenstra, is being watched closely by Nelessen. “I think they are getting excited,” she said. “They’ve got a lot more of a competitive nature.”

But despite the competition, and the friendly Dr. Seuss theme, Meima isn’t backing down.

“We can intimidate them with our good looks,” she quipped.
