Beets-Veenstra will be going for its third consecutive Chaos Day victory on Saturday, after winning in both 2010 and 2011.
“Everyone’s definitely excited. We’ve been trying to build a lot of dorm pride and I think it’s been working,” said David Evenhouse, a resident assistant.
“I could barely get through that we won Chaos Day the last two years without the room erupting,” said Amanda Worst, resident director in BV.
Many other dorms have labeled BV as the dorm to beat in the games, but Worst isn’t backing down.
“It’s a motivator. [Schultze-Eldersveld] won for years in a row, so we hope to do it now.”
Although SE hopes to regain its dynasty of past years, BV is confident in its ability to establish its own modern dynasty.
“If [SE is] so delusional as to think they might be victorious,” started Evenhouse, “it is my duty as a leader in this community to put them back on the right track.”
“We’ve been starting to get along better [with SE],” said Worst. “If SE wins Chaos Day, it will set us back, so I hope they do the right thing and step aside.”
Worst’s daughter, Ava, will be dressed as Pebbles [Flintstone], and will be BV’s secret weapon to motivate residents.
“We’re small but we’re mighty,” said Worst. “I’m confident that we’ll bring it home.”
