Alum employee starts photography gratitude project

With one photo a day for each day leading up to Thanksgiving, a Calvin employee is posting positivity on social media in a project which started at the beginning of the month. Jesús Delgado, administrative assistant for campus involvement and leadership, residence life graduate assistant and Calvin alum, calls his project “Gratitude.”

Each post, which is shared through Delgado’s social media accounts, depicts a person along with a quote sharing what they are most thankful for this Thanksgiving season. Delgado started this project to remind and inspire others to be thankful not only on Thanksgiving Day, but also every other day of the year.

In addition to the message he is trying to spread with “Gratitude,” Delgado also hopes to expand his business as a photographer. Through photography, “a picture can tell a story,” he said. He enjoys using different elements to “capture a story [picture].”

Delgado’s photography experience includes senior photos, engagement photos and “milestone” photos, to name a few. Most of the people pictured in his project are familiar faces around Calvin, including staff, students and friends of Delgado, though some are from his church.

Delgado stated that he is most thankful for “God’s presence in life this season, especially during difficult times. I am also thankful for my support system: family, friends and coworkers.”
